blue key to success

Consistency is essential to success!

As an entrepreneur in the Meetings and Event Industry, you need to find the resources to motivate yourself every day.

Being an event business owner, you often find ourselves “alone at the top” putting out fires and saving the day!

As an independent meeting planner, you’re stellar at putting out fires and creating on-the-spot solutions, it’s part of your DNA, the thing clients and colleagues have always praised you for doing, but it’s exhausting!

I learned early on that to move past the glitches and snafus, the cant’s and the impossible, the bureaucratic obstacles and slowdowns that can occur at face-to-face meetings, I had to find different approaches to help me welcome each new day. I needed to develop a morning routine I could follow consistently.

A few years ago, I discovered Hal Elrod’s bestseller book “The Miracle Morning,” and I’m applying it every day. (Not an affiliate, just a fan!)

Hal has this concept of SAVERS which stands for:

  • Silence (Meditation)
  • Affirmation
  • Visualization
  • Exercise
  • Reading
  • Scribing (writing but the acronym SAVERW didn’t work, so Hal used scribing)

So every morning, this is what I do:

Meditation ~ I use the app “Calm” and choose the “Daily Calm,” a ten minute guided meditation, or the timed reflection depending on the time I have. When I meditate each morning, I find my train of thought is clearer throughout the rest of the day. (Again, not an affiliate, just a fan!)

Affirmation and Visualization are next, and then I move to my

Gratitude journal ~ after meditating and repeating my Affirmation and Visualization, I open my 5-Minute Journal App(not an affiliate, just a fan!) and write about three things I am grateful for and three things I am going to be doing during the day to make it awesome. I find it helps me have a positive perspective throughout my day and to focus on my priorities.

Breathing exercises ~ recently I discovered priming breathing exercises from Tony Robbins. It is amazing how three series of 30 priming breathing brings me energy.

Over the past twenty years, I needed to find something to help me renew my spirit. I needed to develop new strategies and processes that would help me get going each morning.

I found that when I meditated, wrote in my journal and consistently completed my breathing exercises, it helped me to feel better throughout the day and keep my sanity in check.

I honestly don’t know the science behind why doing these things work so well for me, but it’s like my car key: I don’t know how the engine works, but I know that turning the key starts it!

To close the gap and get from where you are now to where you want to be, it takes alignment within yourself — and the power to unlock and unleash.” ~ Tony Robbins, Priming Breathing

Do you have a morning routine?

Do you have a special ritual?

Please share it with me in the comments below, so that I can keep improving and refining my own morning routine. It is always a work in progress!
